King of Pop, The Legend Continues

Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow - 04/09/22

Enthralling his audience with a string of Michael Jackson hits, Navi as the legendary, King of Pop, takes Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall, by storm!

As the bustling audience take their seats in the dimly lit auditorium, all that can be seen and heard is a projected montage of the ‘King of Pop’. The die-hard fans and concert goers, from grandparents with their grand-bairns to adults and teenagers too, some wearing MJ’s signature loafers, silver glove, glitzy jackets and fedora hats, roar with excitement when the drums and bass start pumping out the beat and Navi swings into the groove as he effortlessly moves across the stage to perform ‘Smooth Criminal’. Transitioning slickly with his exceptional band and dancers to ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’, giving the song a new inflection with some added rap.

With the audience eagerly warming up during his performance of ‘Beat It’, Navi and his dancers glide seamlessly through ‘Black or White’, ‘Bad’, ‘Dirty Diana’ and ‘Scream’. Movin and groovin, the crowd danced as they sang along to ‘They Don’t Care About Us’ and ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, before Navi slows down the tempo, bringing the first half to a close with ‘Will You Be There?’

Feeling refreshed, the positive energy of the hyped-up fans reverberated around the concert hall as they boogied along to a three-song melody of the Jackson 5’s, ‘Want You Back’ ‘ABC’ and ‘The Love You Save’. Enticing his audience to join in with ‘Can You Feel It?’, ‘Shake Your Body’ and ‘Rock with You’, the elated crowd picked up their pace as they continued to bop. Pumping up the beat with ‘Billie Jean’, Navi brings the pace of his roller-coaster showmanship down a notch to perform ‘You Are Not Alone’ before shaking the crowd back into a frenzied state with his performance of ‘Thriller’. Engaging his captivated audience in the finale of this spectacular tribute, Navi fittingly ensures ‘Michael Jackson, The Legend’ continues, as he leaves his audience floating on a reflective high with his performance of ‘Man In The Mirror’

The four piece band consisting of some of the finest session musicians in the country were musically outstanding and a pleasure to listen to. Following suit, were the fit male and female dancers whose matching attitudes and performance were flawless.

Navi Charles, a native Trinidadian living in England, most certainly has earned his acclaimed status as the number 1 Michael Jackson impersonator. His ability to mimic Jackson’s voice and rhythmic techniques, together with his unique style of dancing, ornate mannerisms and distinctive resemblance, truly is quite remarkable! Though not surprising, when one considers how much ‘The King of Pop’ himself admired Navi’s abilities, hiring him to perform at two of his private parties, act as a decoy whilst on world tours, and promote new albums globally! Navi’s talent doesn’t stop there; he’s also an actor, his debut performance being that of the starring role in Lifetime Silver Screen Pictures’ 2017 biopic, ‘Michael Jackson; Searching for Neverland’.

Navi is an awe-inspiring impersonator and professed showman who continues to leave his audience enthralled with their legend, Michael J Jackson.

After the past couple of years of pandemic gloom we all need to uplift our spirits and that is exactly what this fantastic tribute concert does. Family entertainment at its best!
